Are there any drawbacks to snow tires in the summer?

Snow Tires

I buy tires for the first time. My car is a 2004 Honda Civic Hybrid. With the approach of winter, I am interested in winter tires because they give better grip. Can it hurt me in any way to use these tires year round? My husband suggested that the performance of all-season tires istället.Tack in advance for your reply.

yep.. winter tires are softer to grip the road for better traction in the snow. now in the summer its not a problem but you’ll just wear out your tires in about a season or two.

The main problem will be road noise. The aggresive tread used on snow tires makes them more noisy that a good all-season tire.
They also wear somewhat faster than an all-season tire..
A good all season tire, will be a better match for the 9 months of the year there isn’t any winter weather around. Ask yourself realistically, how many days of actual snow covered roads do you experience a year. I live in the Upper Midwest and it totals less than 30 days a year…….
BTW, I agree with your husband. I put all-season or all-terrian type tires on my wife’s Jeep. And she carrys my kids around with her

Snow tyres are made of softer compound rubber ,so used all year round their life is shortened. So it will only hurt your wallet.

tires will wear out faster than you think, (tire compound not design for summer, you will over heat the tires) once the tire over heat, you will lose traction. i wouldn’t suggest to do so. the longer you drive in summer, the more risks you re taking. listen to you husband.
