Jump Starters

I have a 99 Mercedes ML320 v6 3. 2 litre. It’s been sitting for 2 weeks w/the key turned on (doh!I t is now completely dead. I just bought a Husky 12 V 400 starting amps jump starter. I charged til the light was green, connected it to my battery and NOTHING. No electrical, nothing. What’s going on?

I would say have the battery and alternator checked out. One other thing. Are the cables in good shape and tight on the post.

Hook the red clamp from the Husky to the red post on the battery. Hook the black clamp onto something metal on the engine. Make sure its metal and then turn the Husky on for a minute. Then try starting it. If that doesnt work you will need to take the battery to autozone or advanced auto. they charge batteries for free. then try starting it. you may need a new battery running it so dead.

Be sure that you have the Red and Black (Positive and Negative) cables on the correct sides of the battery. If so make sure that the battery booster is on. And if still nothing the battery could be so far gone that the booster wont have enouph juice because the battery will soak up the charge before it gets to the electrical system of the car. Try a new battery and if still nothing check your main fuse. Good Luck.

Blow on it? That perks so many things up.

sound like a connection problem, you need to clean the battery terminals. you can take coca-cola and pour it on your battery terminals, this will desolve corrosion.

the battery has probably gone bad in it,you can take the battery out of it and charge it up then take it and have it checked, any parts store can do this for you free of charge, but they cant check a dead battery, then they can determine if the battery is any good or not,it may have just went dead, they will do this,if it wont accept a charge from the jump starter that’s another good sign it as gone bad ,you may just want to replace it and be done with it,good luck with it.

You will really need to charge the vehicle battery, rather than trying to jump start a completley dead car.
The car battery will be drawing power from your jump starter. Even if you did manage to get it started it could lead to problems such as severe spiking when the alternator cuts in.
